Local history
The town of Steyning has many medieval buildings, and although it is nestled in the South Downs some five miles from the sea, it was once a thriving port in Saxon times. The local museum is full of interesting facts and well worth a visit. We are ideally positioned for visiting Brighton, Arundel, Petworth, Chichester, Glyndebourne and the South Downs Way. Walkers are always welcome. The town has a good selection of public houses and restaurants.
